Study on the Behavior of Assembled T-Shaped Aluminum Alloy Specimens under Axial Compression

Assembled T-shaped aluminum alloy components represent a new type of structural member in structures with broad application prospects. In this study, axial compression tests were carried out on 32 components, considering parameters such as the cross-sectional and slenderness ratio to obtain ultimate bearing capacity failure mode members. The test results show that, for equilateral assembled obvious strong weak axes, bending instability was most common, local buckling plate occurred when component relatively small. For unequal without an or axis, torsional occurred, accompanied by deformation connecting limbs due mutual compression. A verified finite element model also established. Based model, parametric analysis conducted study influence initial defects, ratio, compressive components. experimental numerical then compared Chinese European standards, revealing that standard calculation methods tend be unsafe. Finally, defects standards revised.
